James 1:17 NLT says, “Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.” God is the giver of every good and perfect gift and you can be assured that God will never give bad gifts to His childen, He only knows how to give good ones. Moved by His love towards us God gave the greatest gift anyone could give, His only son. John 3:16 NLT says, "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
As we move forward into the Holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas, It’s good to remember and give thanks to God for all the wonderful gifts He has given us. I would like to remind you of some gifts that God has given us that we can be thankful for. We can be thankful that He has given us forgiveness for our sins. Psalm 103:12 KJV says, ”As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” He has given us the gift of His Holy Spirit that we will have forever. 1 Corinthians 2:12 KJV says, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”
We can thank Him for the gift of Peace that He has left with us. John 14:27 KJV says,”Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” He has given us a new family by being adopted through His Son Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:5 KJV says, “Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,” We can be thankful that we no longer walk in darkness, but that God gives us light as we follow Jesus! John 8:12 KJV says, “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” This is just a small list, but there are so many more things we can give God thanks for! As we look forward to celebrating the holidays let us remember God’s goodness and live a life full of thanksgiving unto Him.
