Jeremiah 17:5 amp says, “Thus says the Lord: Cursed [with great evil] is the strong man who trusts in and relies on frail man, making weak [human] flesh his arm, and whose mind and heart turn aside from the Lord.”

God never intended for us to trust in something or someone other than Him. Those who trust in men or other things will ultimately experience a life filled with brokenness, destruction, and disappointment. God is not the source of the destruction in our lives, but the destruction is merly a result of making decisions apart from relationship with God. When you don’t follow the Light of the world (Jesus), then you make decisions in darkness or with lack of wisdom.

Jeremiah 10:23 KJV says, “O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.”

Apart from a relationship with God we don’t have the ability or wisdom to plan our own lives. God has a good plan for our life and it is our job to find out what that is through relationship with His Word and Spirit. Once we find what God’s plan is for our life, then we need trust His guidance and follow His plan. In contrary to trusting God, if we plan our own lives we will be frustrated and disappointed. God created us to trust in Him with all our heart and in every area of our life.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 amp says, “[Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit.”

Those who trust is God will be blessed in what they do and will experience the benefits of trusting in the Lord. When the world is experiencing distress and destruction this man won’t fear because the Lord is His Salvation. When there is a recession, famine, or drought in the world, this man will continue to experience abundance and prosperity because God is his Provider. This man will experience God’s protection and blessing because his trust is in the Lord.

Psalm 91:9-10 AMP says, “Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent.”

Put your trust in the Lord and He will make your paths straight.
